Taking a significant step towards shaping the country’s agriculture agenda, the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is going to inaugurate a two-day National Agriculture Conference in the capital today.

The ‘Rabi Abhiyaan 2025’ conference to be held at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium, Pusa Campus, New Delhi, will be a high-level meeting of policy makers, state ministers and eminent agricultural scientists to prepare a strategic roadmap for the upcoming winter sowing season.
This important meeting, to be held on September 15 and 16, will be chaired by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The event will be attended by agriculture ministers of all states, the secretary of the Union Agriculture Ministry, the secretary of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), the director general of ICAR, and other senior government officials.
A departure from previous years, this year’s Rabi Conference has been extended to two days on the directions of the Union Minister. The proceedings of the first day will see in-depth deliberations between the central- and state-level officials on important aspects of Rabi crop cultivation. The second day will see ministerial dialogue, wherein the State Agriculture Ministers will hold detailed deliberations with Shri Chouhan and Union State Ministers. The key themes of these discussions will be effective ground-level delivery of high-yielding seed varieties, advanced agricultural techniques, and innovative technologies to the farming community.
In an unprecedented move, this conference will also integrate grassroots perspectives by inviting scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) to share their regional insights, field challenges, and practical experiences. This initiative is designed to materialize national strategies in local realities. In addition, states will showcase their success stories and best practices and present replicable models for enhancing agricultural productivity across the country.
The conference agenda is comprehensive, including dedicated sessions on advanced weather forecasting, optimal fertilizer management, breakthroughs in agricultural research, and the critical role of technological innovation in driving productivity growth.
The findings and strategies derived from this national conference are expected to form the official action plan for the 2025-26 Rabi season. Its ultimate objective is to accelerate the income of farmers, promote sustainable agricultural systems and strongly ensure the food security of the country.
